Upgrading to 2.3 with official add-ons

What is the proper way to upgrade to XF 2.3 with the official add-ons?

Disable the official add-ons, upgrade XF core to 2.3, and then upgrade the add-ons to 2.3 and enable; or can I upgrade both XF core 2.2 -> 2.3 and the official add-ons to 2.3 at the same time?
