Adding keyboard shortcuts to rich text editor

Hello all. Is it possible to easily add shortcut keys to the buttons in the rich text editor? Obviously some have codes already (Bold, Italic, etc) however quite a few of the users on one of my boards would like to be able to toggle the BB Code editing mode from the keyboard directly and I was wondering how easy it might be to add a shortcut key?
