Disabled gravatar but XF is still sending requests to gravatar.com

I have just disabled Gravatar support (unticked "Enable Gravatar support" in the User Registration options) but I still see GET requests going to gravatar.com.

I did notice under the option in the AdminCP it says:
If disabled, this will not remove Gravatars from users that already have them.

I thought this meant the Gravatar avatars had been stored locally, so it would continue to use those, but maybe I thought wrong?

If it means it will continue to use Gravatar...

Index criteria: minimum words in all thread

Currently you can only set the minimum word count for the first initial post, there should be another option that takes into account all the words in the entire thread.

This would be useful for those threads with a very short first post but which then end up generating several pages of useful comments.

Unable to update add-ons after XF upgrade to 2.3.4

Since I upgraded my site to XF2.3.4 earlier this week I have been running into an issue in which I am not able to update any add-ons. When I try, I get this message:

I do not know how to access the source code to change the permissions for these directories/files. Can someone instruct me as to how to do that?
